Nevermind on the Prop

Too tilted and too frustrated to continue so I dropped out of the prop bet.  BW was cool enough to let me off the hook for the money, so he's a great guy for that.

See everyone around I guess.  Later.

Rough Start – 5,297 Hands

I got a good amount of sleep and I feel a lot better, unfortunately, things went from really bad to worse at the tables.  It's a small sample, I get it, but hey it is what it is.  Check this out:

So with AA and KK I am a loser so far during the prop bet, making it really fun and challenging to get through.  By fun I mean jabbing yourself in the eye with a hot flaming sword fun.

For what it's worth here are the top four losing hands over the the 5,297 hands so far:

T8s (we saw that bad beat)
AA
AQs
KK

I have a very strong feeling when those four hands are your four biggest losing hands you are never ever going to show a profit, no matter who you are.  To recap the morning play:

  • KK shoved into AA for a stack
  • KK AIPF for a 80 big blind pot against TT, loses.
  • AA cracked on the last hand of a session by a person with 30 big blinds who setmines in a 3bet pot and hits with 99

Not sure what else to say.  I am sure if you read the second or third entry for the last prop bet you'll know what I feel now.  I'm not super pissed or angry just disappointed and frustrated.  Ah well, I guess I'll have to rename the blog next post...

Day 1: 4,060 hands at a loss

Today sucked at the tables and right now at 10pm I'm seriously too tilted to play a great game so I am calling it early unfortunately.  BW ran a billion times worse and set some world record for being under EV for a day of play.  Meanwhile I ran up against a ton of standard situations where I ended up on the losing end of things.  Here's the Day 1 graph:

Started bad, middle was good, then ended really horrible.  I promise only to share 1 disgusting hand a day, otherwise I might have to finally change the name of this blog to "Icemonkey9's Endless Bitching About Bad Beats and Coolers" which I still might do due to popular request.

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players -

BB: $57.45
UTG: $50.00
CO: $49.75
BTN: $66.55

Hero (SB): $55.15

Pre Flop: ($0.50) Hero is SB with T of spades 8 of spades

3 folds, BTN raises to $1, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.00) 9 of diamonds Q of spades J of spades (2 players)

Hero checks, BTN bets $2, Hero raises to $6, BTN requests TIME, BTN raises to $18, Hero raises to $54.15 all in, BTN calls $36.15

Turn: ($110.30) J of hearts (2 players - 1 is all in)
River: ($110.30) 7 of hearts (2 players - 1 is all in)
Final Pot: $110.30

BTN shows J of clubs Q of hearts (a full house, Jacks full of Queens)

Hero shows T of spades 8 of spades (a straight, Queen high)

BTN wins $107.30

I'm an 82.2% favorite there at the flop with the flopped straight, flush draw and straight flush draw. He hits of course.  Queue the 2.5 buy-in EV swing in one hand.  AA was a losing hand for me today.  Just one of those days.  Actually when I post my quarterly report, you'll see it's been one of those years actually.

So I am a little behind pace and need to put in 4,600 hands a day to achieve the goal.  BW put in over 7k today but he's the man imo, today was one of his biggest victories as far as I am concerned.  I can't believe he didn't freak out lol ... anyways, that's today's report.

The 60,000 Hand in 13 Days Bet

Brian (BW07507) and I decided to motivate ourselves once again and are putting up a volume prop bet against each other.

Prop Bet Start : 00:00 PST on March 24th, 2010
Prop Bet End : 23:59 PST on April 5th, 2010

(if i can count, that's 13 days)

Objective: Play 60,000 hands of poker during the allotted time period

Stipulations:

  • BW07507 will be allowed to start at 00:00 EST on March 24th, 2010 and finish at 23:59 EST on April 5th, 2010
  • If BW07507 fails to play 60k hands during the prop bet, he will pay $250 to icemonkey9 on the site of Icemonkey9's choosing
  • If icemonkey9 fails to play 60k hands during the prop bet, he will pay $250 to bw07507 on the site of bw07507's choosing
  • If one player fails to complete the 60k hands while the other one does, the person that fails must buy and use (take a pic!) this mousepad.
  • Both icemonkey9 and bw05707 can play on their accounts (they know each other's SNs) on PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker
  • If both players fail in the bet or if both players succeed in the bet, neither pays the other any funds.
  • Both players cannot play more than 16 tables at a time.
  • If a player wants to play RUSH poker tables, they can only play rush exclusively during the session (up to 4 tables). Example: If you want to play 1 table of Rush poker, you cannot play any other tables at all. However you can play 3 more tables of Rush for a total of 4. (I just want to keep it simple so i dont have to figure out X Rush Tables + Y Regular tables = Z)
  • Players must play at 50nl+ tables at either 6max or Full Ring
  • As part of the 60k hands, 15k of those hands must be played at 100nl games.
  • As part of the 60k hands, 5k of those hands must be played at 200nl games.
  • If a player experiences a Full Tilt server down time, they can report it and be credited with it to the back end of the time limit for the prop bet. Example: you are playing at 3am, the server goes down for 1 hour. Simply report it on the thread and you're end-time is extended 1 hour for the prop bet.

Another Prop Bet?!

I must be flipping crazy.  So instead of my live poker day at Pechanga I've decided to undergo the fun of another prop bet.  This time it doesn't seem like I am going to get any action against.  I guess people learned their lesson last time, but it would have been nice to get some action against outside of the money I have with BW who is also doing the prop bet with me.

The stipulations are being worked out but in general, I will have to play 60,000 hands of poker at 50nl+ between March 24th at midnight (TONIGHT!) through April 5th at 23:59pm.  Should be a very sick prop bet because I'm only allowed to play a maximum of 16 tables at a time.

The wife is going out of town again, this time to visit her cousin overseas.  This will leave me with a whole lot of spare time outside of work to kill.  Putting myself through another prop bet seemed like a good use of my time that would force me to use my new laptop!

There's going to be a crazy stipulation into the prop bet that I didn't announce yet that should have people talking.  Both BW and I are excited about it so it should be a lot of fun.  When the details are set tonight I'll post them and will be making regular updates here.
