Getting Into the Right Mindset

Today I had a little time for poker (not much though) and got in two short sessions of 100nl full ring cash game play. I was really proud of my mentality going through the two sessions. The first session was tough because I was forced to make some tough (but highly correct) laydowns. I think I would have jammed those plays 2 weeks ago and lost stacks, meaning tilt *was* playing a factor in my play. However, I'm trying to simply look in the present and was really pleased that I didn't get discouraged and took it hand-by-hand and also didn't look at my results.

The second session went better but something I noticed was that the amount of fish seems to be less than it was, say, two months ago. Something going on that I don't know about? Maybe playing on Thursdays is just dumb! Anyways the second session was played well, so from my "Do I have the right mindset / am I playing each hand well" perspective I am pleased with my April start. I'm not going to get caught up in results, at least not for now.

Here's a fun hand that felt pretty dangerous but I like my play here. This hand was against a super nitty SNE-type regular I have *tons* of history with who has a 13% 3bet from the small blind. Per my recent video with ChuckTs, if these people tend to fold to 4bets (she does) I can do so light and thin (a diet 4bet?). Anyways with her line and history I absolutely know 100% of the time she has AK here and lets it go.

Comments are appreciated on that hand but obviously I think against this player I was confident to go with my read (and apparent brass balls).

Anyways April is off and running, and it feels good to be playing my normal stakes again. I kind of feel like Buckner walking back into Shea (just like Mike McDermott in Rounders walking back into Teddy KGB's club) but I am glad I handled the return the way I did.
